This year marks the 75th Anniversary of The Battle of Hong Kong. 18 days of battles show the brave sacrifice of local volunteers and servicemen from the rest of the Commonwealth. Sadly this part of History has been ignored and most citizens in Hong Kong have no idea of the defence force.
Inspired by the memorial event of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Somme throughout Great Britain. We have decided to organise the Living Monuments in Hong Kong. 30 volunteers will dress up as the soldiers of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps(HKVDC) and with the help of docents, we hope to enhance Hongkonger’s interest on the 18 days of battles, at the mean time commemorating the war dead of the Battle of Hong Kong.
